Hilarious. I’m guessing Alison Hammond has munched on more than her fair share of hot dogs in her time, as I have.

I spoke to a feminist journalist two months ago and today the results have been published in the women’s magazine Marie Claire. The article features quotes from myself, Lisa Chamberlain and Rachael Smith – as well as complacent and prejudiced commentary from the journalist.
I would like to take a moment to reflect on the fact that today J4MB has featured in both The Guardian and Marie Claire – and Mike will be on RT TV sometime after 8pm this evening. We’re definitely past the “first they ignore you” stage!

What? I earned it!

Last night I had to miss Ewan Jones’s talk in Oxford in order to be in London for RTTV (Russia Today television), discussing the Cambridge university story with a feminist. The discussion lasted for eight or nine minutes, but RTTV have posted less than three minutes of video on their website – here – and won’t provide me with the full video file for posting on our YouTube channel. Suffice to say, I thought Paola Diana was by some distance the silliest feminist I’ve debated with in a studio for years, so you’re probably only missing headache-inducing video footage.

I’m starting to devote more time to my neglected hobby of photography, with a view to recording events such as Speakers’ Corner, ICMIs, university presentations, and more. I was about to order a 58mm lens hood for my Canon EOS1100D camera, when it occured to me to check out the small number of related customers’ questions and answers. The idea is that potential buyers of items pose questions before buying, and customers provide advice.
If I were not leading J4MB, I’d be tempted to write a book on these questions and answers. They are a comedy well which never runs dry, to my mind. Both men and women appear equally contradictory, and with some of the answers you suspect people have way too much time on their hands. People will pose questions such as, “Is this item available only in black?”, and get a helpful selection of answers such as:
The customer questions and answers on the 58mm lens hood are here. Dear reader, I ordered that lens cap, a bargain for a metal lens hood at £5.99 – here.

Having failed to stop our forthcoming talks with false allegations of harassment and threatening behaviour, Cambridge feminists are now making false allegations about misogyny and hate speech, which will come as no surprise to J4MB supporters, or all the women who are organizing, speaking, and otherwise attending the forthcoming Chicago International Conference on Men’s Issues, the fifth in the series. A woeful new piece in Varsity, the student newspaper, is here. The final paragraph:
The misogyny that J4MB represents should not be legitimised as a topic that our freedom of expression enables us to engage with. The University’s Statement on Freedom of Speech states that events which “pose a genuine risk to the welfare” will not be platformed. Ultimately, the duty of the University lies with its students: controversial hate speech should not be housed here, of all places. J4MB represent more than the ‘imminent threats to [students’] preconceived ideas’ that Elizabeth Hobbs, [J4MB: Hobson] its Director of Communications suggests. The aggression they have exhibited online [J4MB: What aggression?] represents a very real risk to students’ welfare. In allowing their presence on campus, the University fails to support its female identifying student body. This endorsement of misogyny in exchange for this brand of free speech is a price too steep to pay.

Appalling. Sapphire Partners, in a section of their website titled, What sets us apart?, have this:
We are trailblazers. For nearly a decade we have been advocates for women in business. We were the first executive search firm to actively promote women and we are as passionate about supporting and nurturing women now as we were then. We continue to be magnets for securing female talent in a market that now realises the incredible contribution that women bring at executive level. While we are champions for women, our door is open to all talented professionals, whatever their gender.
We search for hidden gems. We are hardworking and tenacious in our search to find truly great candidates, whether it’s burgeoning talent or skills that have not yet been recognised. [J4MB: Hmm, why have their “burgeoning” talents or skills not yet been recognised? My own burgeoning talent and skills as a top-flight footballer have yet to be recognised.]
And who do we find on the Advisory Board? That radical feminist harridan, Cherie Blair.

A risible piece published by The Tab, a Cambridge online publication, three days ago. Extracts:
And the story doesn’t end there. Because just last week, the University came under fire for agreeing to host a talk at the Alison Richards building by the pathetically titled group ‘Justice for Men and Boys’, which claims that men are treated as ‘subhuman’ and are ‘relentlessly disadvantaged’ by the modern education system. This weird narrative may seem harmless, even if ridiculously embarrassing, but the briefest of looks at their websites shows the dangerous ideologies they promote. One article linked on there, entitled ’13 reasons why women lie about rape’, uses anecdotes to create sweeping generalisations such as that women will do so ‘when they fail their school exams’, a transparent attempt to discredit social movements promoting openness about sexual assaults by presenting women as inherently manipulative and deceitful. Others have even raised concerns about facing harassment from the group, based on their controversial and aggressive social media presence.
There is of course a substantial argument to be made that the University should continue letting people like Noah Carl, Jordan Peterson, and J4MB speak, as failure to do so would be an infringement on the principle of free speech. But an institution as prestigious as Cambridge has a huge responsibility and allowing such groups to speak here runs the terrifying risk of legitimising their prejudiced attitudes…
The underlying principle should therefore be that the University needs to consider the ethical dangers that come from any such extreme views and take care to avoid endorsing hateful speech in any form.
Surely the Cambridge Union does a suitable job of providing a diverse range of controversial opinions, without these views having to be legitimised academically by speakers visiting and working at the University itself…
Free speech’ is undeniably an important concept. But there’s an important distinction to be made between allowing people to share divisive views and handing them a microphone, an audience, and a research fellowship, all so they can continue to perpetuate hatred, pseudoscience and dangerous agendas.
So this article is a call for the University to please just stop giving sexist, racist, and homophobic public figures and questionable social movements a platform. Let them speak freely on the streets of Cambridge if they really want to, but not in our colleges and lecture theatres.

Our thanks to Dougie for this. Vera Baird QC is vile even by the standards of radical feminists in public life. Our pieces on her are here, including her award for “Toxic Feminist of the Month”.
Since 2010, including Vera Baird, there have been four Victims’ Commissioners. All have been women, none have done anything for men and boys.
