Good Morning Britain: “Is it OK to not be a feminist?”

A piece published on the website of Justice for Men & Boys (and the women who love them), the political party of which I’m the chairman, in June 2019:

A couple of days ago I received an email from the (female) producer of Good Morning Britain, asking if I could be in the studio the next morning for a discussion on the issue, “Is it OK to not be a feminist?” (I had my mobile phone with me, but didn’t receive a call.) When I read the email – an hour or two after it was sent – I replied explaining I was out of the country on holiday, but Elizabeth Hobson would surely make a great contribution. But by then they’d decided on another option, Kate Andrews of the Institute of Economic Affairs.

A video of the discussion is here (9:14). Early on Kate cited surveys showing that the majority of women don’t self-identify as feminists, which predictably led to this subtitle:

Kate Andrews believes a lot of women are not feminists.

Believes, huh? I expect she also believes the sun rises in the East.

This is the fifth or sixth time we’ve been invited to appear on GMB, but things have got in the way. We’ll get on the programme yet!

Nike introduces its “Land Whale” sportswear range

A piece published on the website of Justice for Men & Boys (and the women who love them), the political party of which I’m the chairman, in June 2019:

Times caption: Nike says it wants to prove that its sports clothing is not only for slimmer customers, on account of so many of its potential customers being morbidly obese these days (J4MB: we may have added a few words there)

On the same day that L’Oreal launches its first make-up range for feminists (“Tired of looking like an angry, bitter, ugly, dried-up, crazy hag, with a faint moustache? Then try L’Oreal’s new Feminista beauty range!!!”), Nike launches its “Land Whale” sportswear collection. I look forward to a newspaper story in a few weeks’ time saying the Land Whale collection wasn’t the commercial success it had predicted, and the whale-shaped mannequins removed.

Seven years on, fish enthusiast Jack Perks completes his lonely quest (to encounter all 53 British freshwater fish)

A piece published on the website of Justice for Men & Boys (and the women who love them), the political party of which I’m the chairman, in June 2019:

Maybe it’s the hot Maltese midday sun disorienting me – mad dogs and Englishmen, and all that – but I was touched by this piece in today’s Times. Honestly, in the absence of men, important things like this simply wouldn’t get done.

Justice Secretary David Gauke is considering plans to give female prisoners mobile phones and let their children live with them to stop them reoffending

A piece published on the website of Justice for Men & Boys (and the women who love them), the political party of which I’m the chairman, in June 2019:

Our thanks to Mike P for this. The start of the piece:

Female prisoners could be given mobile phones and be allowed to live with their children to maintain family ties and help stop them reoffending.

All women inmates would get a handset to keep in touch with their loved ones day or night under the contentious plans being considered by Justice Secretary David Gauke.

Phones would not connect to the internet and prisoners could only call a small group of approved numbers.

Convicts would have to pay for the calls, with service providers being encouraged to offer them special deals.

And in a bid to help women convicts prepare for life on the outside, they could be moved to a ‘halfway house’ – which would not have bars on the windows’ – where they can live with their children.

The proposals, based on the justice model in Germany, follow a report by Tory peer Lord Farmer which emphasised the use of technology to boost rehabilitation among women criminals. But critics are like to regard the phone idea as fresh evidence that jails are becoming too cushy.

Some 3,900 women are in prison in England and Wales, about 5 per cent of inmates, and most have been jailed for low-level crimes such as shoplifting. [J4MB: You have to ask yourself, how many “low-level crimes such as shoplifting” would a woman have to commit in 2019, to get a custodial sentence? A custodial sentence is very much a last resort for women, unlike men.]

About 71 per cent of those released from a custodial sentence of less than a year reoffended within 12 months.

More than 60 per cent of female offenders have been victims of domestic abuse [J4MB: allegedly] and they are more than twice as likely as male inmates to have mental health problems. [J4MB: lie]

Paul Smith: HELLO YOU!

A piece published on the website of Justice for Men & Boys (and the women who love them), the political party of which I’m the chairman, in June 2019:

Walking through my local Debenhams store today, I happened to pass a stand where a number of men’s after shaves and eaux de toilette were on sale at discounted prices. Since giving up alcohol some months ago, I have more money in my pocket, and I decided to throw caution to the winds and test a few of them. In the end, after testing half a dozen, I settled on HELLO YOU! (FOR MEN), a Paul Smith eau de toilette. The decider was an image on the carton of a young lady – box image here.

Keep awake, this is where it starts to get interesting. It was only when I got the box home, and took out the bottle, that I noticed a small act of anti-feminist subversion on the part of (Sir) Paul Smith. A label on the side of the bottle shows, to the casual observer, only the stripes of the box design. So far, so PC. But looked through the bottle itself, the other side of the label bears the same image of the young lady.

Always prepared to go the extra mile for the followers of this blog, our award-winning media team tracked down a video (8:17) about the product, by two attractive non-feminist ladies, “The Perfume Pros”. After 2:13 the ladies spot the image of the young lady on the label, and rather than seeking a fainting couch – as any feminist would – they seem to enjoy the design feature.

This is how revolutions start, mark my words.

Eindhoven University, The Netherlands: Female academics are too scarce. So their applications are going to the top of the pile.

A piece published on the website of Justice for Men & Boys (and the women who love them), the political party of which I’m the chairman, in June 2019:

Our thanks to UK Men’s Rights Action for this. The start of the piece in The Guardian by Frank Baaijens, rector of Eindhoven University of Technology:

Engineering has a huge impact on society. To responsibly advance science and technology, [J4MB: Were they irresponsibly “advanced” in the past?] a university should be a balanced reflection of society. [J4MB: Why?] As a top engineering university we believe that diversity and inclusiveness is crucial for the quality of our teaching and research. [J4MB: Why is it crucial? Is the same true for psychology, medicine, or the many other disciplines dominated by women?] More than that, we believe we can turn a fully representative academic workforce into a unique strength. This is why, from 1 July, all our job vacancies will be exclusively open to female candidates for the first six months after they are advertised.

This is certainly a radical step, as the international  headlines about our moveattest. But we felt it was a necessary step as the more subtle measures we tried over the past 10 years were to no avail. [J4MB: Call me crazy, but I’m starting to think women are not inclined towards the field of engineering. I’m ready for you now, doctor.] The targets we set for female recruitment and the missionary work of our chief diversity officers were certainly useful in making our staff and community aware of inequalities and their own biases. As a result, at least two women are now on every selection panel. And yet, the gender imbalance persists with only 16% of our full professors being female – one of the lowest percentages in the Netherlands, and indeed in Europe. [J4MB: The gender balance persists despite there being at least two women on every selection panel? It’s a mystery, all right.]

What has become clear is that during the recruitment and selection processes, all of us – males and females alike – have an unconscious bias that means we gravitate towards male candidates. This makes it harder for women to start and develop their academic careers. To address this unfair situation, we had to take affirmative action, even at the risk of upsetting some male candidates for jobs.

We can conclude at least one thing from the article. Frank Baaijens is a blithering idiot. A rector talking out of his rectum.

Lisa Scotney, 54, mother, bankrolled cannabis farm in a £2million country mansion. Suspended sentence, because her parents and children rely on her.

A piece published on the website of Justice for Men & Boys (and the women who love them), the political party of which I’m the chairman, in June 2019:

Our thanks to Mike P for this. An extract:

Scotney showed little emotion when she was sentenced at Warwick Crown Court yesterday for her part in the ‘moderately sophisticated enterprise’.

Recorder Kenneth Carr said he would ordinarily have jailed her for 27 months but was able to reduce the sentence to two years, suspended for two years.

This was because of a long delay in bringing the case to court, the fact Scotney had ‘very bright’ eight-year-old twins who would be deprived of their mother and also because her elderly parents relied on her as their only child.

Linda Bellos – lesbian doll?

A piece published on the website of Justice for Men & Boys (and the women who love them), the political party of which I’m the chairman, in June 2019:

I recently posted a video (10:08) of a discussion I had on RT TV with Linda Bellos, a 68-year-old lesbian radical feminist with two 40-something children by a man she married in 1970. My thanks to Kate for pointing out that her name is an anagram of “lesbian doll”.

A third of women only date men because of the free food: study

A piece published by Elizabeth Hobson on the website of Justice for Men & Boys (and the women who love them), the political party of which I’m the chairman, in June 2019:

A new study published Friday in the Society for Personality and Social Psychology journal found that a quarter to a third of heterosexual women have gone on a date with a guy they weren’t interested in — just for a free meal.
